Visiting the Red Dunes just 1 hour from Riyadh makes for another amazing day trip from Riyadh and best of all, there are lots of companies that you can do this day trip with which is perfect for independent travellers to Riyadh and Saudi Arabia like myself! I joined a weekend tour with Hike Mania Club who run various tours every Friday and Saturday to places close to Riyadh, including camping and mountain hiking.

We met the groups in a car park in the city and drove 1 hour into the desert and their camp. We then went on a 2 hour hike up and down the red sand dunes before watching the sunset and coming back to camp for dinner, to chill out, smoke shisha and listen to music!
