So let's just say fly fishing in the dead of Winter can sometimes present its "challenges". And today was definitely one of those days. As if it weren't complicated enough just fly fishing on a near zero morning, I also tried to film it! The combination of fly fishing and filming is a dicey proposition on even the nicest of weather days. But trying to perform this task when it's 4° out ... something is bound to get broken. Earlier this Winter, I nearly lost my Nikon Z6 camera when a strong gust of wind blew tripod over on the Upper Colorado. A month later, I nearly lost my thumb to frostbite while fishing and filming in below zero temps along the Frying Pan. And in today's video, I realize another big mistake as I set foot in the river to start off my morning. Thankfully, it didn't end my day ... but definitely had to adjust my plans and my mindset before getting into some nice South Platte River trout.
In the end though, it's all worth it. I continue to learn and push myself on both the fly fishing and video fronts, and happy with the small improvements I make every time out! So, thanks for coming along for the ride, and hope you enjoy this day out at Deckers!
p.s. ... one of my subscribers @CPro Fishing recently asked if I'm ready for some tropical weather yet ... the answer is a resounding YES ๐คฃ. btw - he has great fishing videos from Florida ... go check out his channel and be sure to subscribe!
