This is a late 1940s, early 1950’s era, color movie presented by Con Edison about the benefits of electrical appliances, and the importance of having an upgraded, modern electrical panel in your home. It stars Hollywood veteran actor Dean Harens and actress Patricia Barry and was directed by George Blake. The plot revolves around a couple whose current electrical panel is pushed to the bring, and who have a lot of electrical appliances in their home. Things are brought to a head when the boss comes over for dinner. The film was produced by George Blake Enterprises, Inc. Husband and wife enjoy their breakfast and coffee, made with an electric percolator, 1:00. Husband comes home from work, 3:15. Couple talks about cooking steak in their electric broiler, 4:20. The lights go out, 5:50, due to overuse of the electricity causing a brownout or short circuit. The husband replaces a burned out fuse, 7:02. The group enjoys a cup of coffee after dinner, 8:50. The group blows a fuse by turning on the air conditioner, 10:00. The couple discusses buying a new house and their new wiring, 11:30. The couple talks with the salesperson about new wiring, 12:30. Con Edison employee talks to the couple about wiring, 13:30. Animation shows how wiring works, 14:22. Fuse boxes and outlets are described, 14:37. Animation continues to show proper wiring techniques, 15:25. Woman bakes cookies and serves them to her husband, 16:30. Men talking about rewiring an apartment building, 18:15.
