Is President Jokowi a political 'outsider' as most observers believe? with Seth Soderborg

Major political parties in Indonesia have stated their support to move from direct elections and return to an indirect election system. Deliberations are still in the early stage and nothing is final yet.

We wondered how indirect elections might impact the rise of alternative candidates such as Jokowi. But, not everyone considers him an "outsider" since he was escorted to power by several elites such as Prabowo Subianto and Megawati Soekarnoputri. Seth Soderborg, a PhD candidate at Harvard, says that Jokowi's reputation as an outsider is more of a narrative. Episode out soon!
