Demanding regular jobs, members of the Guest Faculty Assistant Professors’ Association staged a protest and raised slogans against the state government at Government Rajindra College here on Monday. The assistant professors boycotted classes as a part of protest.

The Higher Education Department has announced fresh recruitment of faculty members. The protesters said they had been serving as guest faculty assistant professors for the past over 15 years but instead of giving them regular jobs, the government has announced new appointments.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
