On Thursday Labor "managed to get the current inquiry extended to the 24th of June”.
Ms Credlin said Labor tried to “make a big deal” out of the fact that “Bridget McKenzie's signature on a brief, authorising round three of these sports rorts, arrived in the department on the day the election was called”.
“Any idiot knows, or should know, decisions can be made before caretaker and then announced later,” she said.
“Whenever a political party is focused on attacking the other side, its own internal issues tend to be sidelined.
“The worst possible outcome from the sports rorts affair would be a Canberra culture that gives even more responsibility to unelected officials and even less to the people we actually elect to run the country.”
