Training a dog to accept having its toenails cut

Training a dog to accept having its toenails cut Dogs don't like to have their toenails cut, but it's a necessity of life. In this video, I'll show you what we do at the Dogue Shop, but please remember that starting husbandry dog training when they are puppies is best. I edited the treat eating segments to make the video shorter.

The training steps, aka successive approximations, were:
- No reaction to the sight of the clipper
- Bring clipper closer
- Bring clipper close to the paw
- Touch the paw with the clipper
- Touch the toenail/s with the clipper
- Place the clipper on the toenail
- Put minimal pressure on the toenail with the clipper
- Cut a super-thin slice of the toenail AND click at the same time
- Do all the toenails

You're done!!
