EDUC 630 Lesson Title: Identify Theme in Real Life
Lesson Objective:
The students will be able to
Identify themes that relate to real life
Understand the importance of theme to fictional stories
Demonstrate the creation of their own theme
Determine how characterization plays a part in theme development
The technology that is being used is giving students access to Brainpop.com ( which has content dedicated to English content including theme. The teacher can provide 1 to1 device interaction for the students to watch the instructional video or show the access through technology available in the classroom like Promethean boards, or projectors.
The contribution of technology to the lesson is pretty much all of R.A.T. for it provides the video that is the foundation and connection for instruction for the students. In that sense, it allows the students to better visualize and follow the message and gives the teacher an opening for remediation with direct instruction afterward. The website, Brainpop, also provides the graphic organizer and worksheet that would be used for the guided practice for students to further develop the ability to spot the development of theme and the ability to read between the lines. The technology also provides the application of Make A Movie so students can visualize their own story concepts with a theme.
