Dancing on Ice: Show bosses give Hamish Gaman special role after Caprice exit

Dancing on Ice: Show bosses give Hamish Gaman special role after Caprice exit Hamish Gaman, the former skating partner of American businesswoman and model Caprice Bourret, will take to the rink this Sunday to perform a dance with Vanessa Bauer, with Dancing on Ice’s Associate Creative Director Dan Whiston calling the choreography “wicked”. Hamish Gaman might not have spoken publicly about his fallout with Caprice Bourret, but he has used his Instagram account to share his feelings. In an emotional post, he thanked everyone for their “kind messages”, saying: “Honestly, I’m not okay, but I’d like to thank Amelia, my pro family and ITV for doing all that they can to support me.” The post concluded with a telling prediction: “I’m comforted knowing the truth always comes out in the end, and I hope we can focus on the skating again now.” That wish is to come true this weekend, as Hamish will be afforded a rare opportunity to Dancing on Ice skaters.  READ MORE Dancing on Ice 2020: Fans claim show is recorded after Holly blunder  Even though he is technically eliminated, Hamish will take centre-stage on the ice to perform a routine - an unusual event for skaters no longer in the competition. He’ll perform the dance with Vanessa Bauer, who also hit headlines after suffering a painful fall during rehearsals. Dan Whiston, DOI’s Associate Creative Director, has spoken about rehearsals for the dance, which he has described as “wicked”: "It's really lovely for them. It's really exciting. It's going to be a wicked routine.” Dan spoke of Hamish’s excitement at performing this special dance: "He's been involved in every show since he parted ways with Caprice, but this week he'll be doing a solo with Vanessa so he's really excited about that."  In light of Hamish’s recent words, Dan had some encouraging news about his headspace and well-being: “He's doing really well. He's really busy with his professional commitments, he's busy in rehearsals, he's got a lot going on.” He added: "He's got his head down spending a lot of time on the ice." A source told The Sun earlier this week Hamish felt “humiliated” by Caprice, who reportedly made disparaging remarks about his masculinity. The source claimed Caprice’s jabs began soon after they were paired: “Caprice began to belittle and disrespect Hamish very quickly after their first training sessions began.”  Caprice allegedly disrespected and derided Hamish in public: “She would mock him in front of the Dancing On Ice crew with comments such as, ‘You skate like a girl’ and ‘Be more manly - you’re more feminine than me’.” The source emphasised how the production staff became aware of Caprice’s attacks: "It became relentless every day and left both Hamish and the crew shocked. Behaviour like this has never been seen on the show before." Hamish has since attended therapy, arranged by ITV, claiming that the alleged behaviour brought back memories of how he was bullied at school for his passions of skating and dancing. “Caprice's words sent Hamish into a dark place, as it took him back to his days a
