2-18-20 Birmingham, AL - Flash Flood Warning - Numerous Interstate Crashes on Slick Roads

Another round of heavy rainfall caused Flash Flood Warnings to be issued around the Birmingham metro area on Tuesday evening. Dangerous travel conditions resulted in multiple accidents where local fire and police responded near the Fultondale exit on I-65 in Birmingham. A elderly couple was taken out of a truck that slid off of the interstate into an embankment. They were taken by ambulance but were able to walk away from the truck under their own power with limited assistance. Multiple other spin out crashes were observed with several smashing into the center concrete barrier.

Heavy rains continued into the overnight in the metro where flash flooding remains a threat.
